Southampton, PA: September 26, 2007 - Environmental Tectonics Corporation (AMEX:ETC) ("ETC" or the "Company") today announced that the National Aerospace Training and Research (NASTARSM) Center is hosting an Education Day on Friday, October 5th. The purpose of the event is to showcase the capabilities of the NASTARSM Center to area educators and administrators, and to explore ways the NASTARSM Center can work with those educators to enhance educational programs, especially in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) area.
NASA Astronaut Dan Barry will address the educators gathered at NASTARSM Center's Education Day. Dr. Barry received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Cornell University in 1975; a master of engineering degree and a master of arts degree in electrical engineering/computer science from Princeton University in 1977; a doctorate in electrical engineering/computer science from Princeton University in 1980; and a doctorate in medicine from the University of Miami in 1982. His mission aboard STS-72 Endeavour (January 11-20, 1996) was a 9-day flight during which the crew retrieved the Space Flyer Unit (launched from Japan 10-months earlier), and deployed and retrieved the OAST-Flyer. Dr. Barry performed a 6 hour, 9 minute spacewalk designed to demonstrate and evaluate techniques to be used in the assembly of the International Space Station. The NASTARSM Center has been working with representatives of the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Departments of Education to arrange the agenda for the day. The morning will consist of tours of the NASTARSM Center, followed by a lunchtime address by Dr. Barry. The afternoon is devoted to a workshop in which area educators are encouraged to share ideas on how the NASTARSM Center can cooperate in developing curricula and enhancing educational programs.
