Southampton, Pa,September 25, 2006: - Environmental Tectonics Corporation ("ETC" or the "Company") announced today that registration is now open for the Readiness Now 2006 Summit for Disaster Management Planning. Along with NFC Global and Drexel University, ETC is sponsoring this Philadelphia-area event.

Readiness Now 2006 is designed to provide timely educational and training experiences for regional senior executives from public and private sectors who need to learn and understand the intricacies and challenges of Disaster Management. Spanning regional to global, natural and man-made disaster situations, READINESS NOW 2006 features leading experts to address the critical issues from four essential perspectives: Threats, Planning, Training, and Response.

Understanding the needs for Collective Readiness of first responders and all the multitudes of regulatory and governing agencies, businesses and individual stakeholders in all the critical threat areas is an exceptional challenge.

The Safety of the Critical Infrastructure of airports, seaports, railways and highways will always have room for improvement and recent happenings have shown that every adverse event has the potential to cascade into further crisis. The latest studies reveal that we are inadequately prepared to deal with major disasters … thorough preparation, with timely and well-directed rescue and recovery plans make the difference between mishap and disaster. Readiness is Key.

Major catastrophies are infrequent but potential consequences demand that leaders are certain their enterprise is prepared to ensure Continuity of Operations. Adverse weather and industrial mishaps are better understood, and may be preceded by some warning. By contrast, earthquakes, tsunamis, fires and terrorist attacks are surprise chaotic events. Preparation, planning and extensive specialized training can help to better recognize the threats and warning signs, gain experience and develop mature responses. Targeted training, individual skill testing, intra-disciplinary exercising, force-wide readiness and strategic planning along with doctrine development and testing must be precisely implemented. Most significantly, critical incidents invariably threaten adjacent enterprises, often crossing jurisdictional lines … thus, plans and procedures need to all be authentically jointly developed; and, readiness exercised and validated on a regular basis.

The Readiness Now 2006, Summit for Disaster Management Planning will address, discuss and dissect these critical issues. Attendance is seriously encouraged … by any government officials, property managers, insurance underwriters, re-insurance executives, lawyers representing insurance companies, city planners, first responders, emergency management agencies and any other disaster management professionals.
