Southampton, Pa, April 30, 2007: - Environmental Tectonics Corporation's (AMEX: ETC) ("ETC" or the "Company") Testing and Simulations Systems (TSS) Division today announced the award of a $1.4 million contract to supply Custom Low Temperature Air-Handling (AHU) Units to a major US automobile manufacturer. The Air Handling Units will be used to test engine performance and emissions by soaking engines to a desired temperature within a range of -48 to 5°F dry bulb. These highly specialized units are crucial in performing cold start tests.
The Low Temperature AHU's will be provided with a sophisticated control system utilizing a feed forward approach to optimize the conditioning of the test engine. A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) will interface via an Ethernet link with the test cell control and building management systems. The performance and system information will be available for the cell controller and others via the building management system.
ETC has been designing and manufacturing testing and simulations systems for the automotive and HVAC Industries for the last 35 years. ETC test systems designed for the automotive industry include environmentally controlled drive-in chambers, A/C systems, test benches and calorimeters, component and full vehicle development wind tunnels, engine development systems and automotive emissions testing systems.
ETC is committed to providing our customers with quality test equipment to help them fulfill their goals of automotive excellence. This award solidifies our position as the largest domestic supplier to the automotive industry of this test type equipment.
Theresa Wagner, TSS Sales Manager said, "We are proud to continue a well-established relationship with our customer and pleased that they have, once again, procured our engineering, project management and manufacturing services for this project."
