Southampton, Pa., December 13, 2005: Environmental Tectonics Corporation (AMEX:ETC) ("ETC" or the "Company") today announced that NIBRA, the National Institute for Fire Services and Disaster Management in the Netherlands, has successfully passed it's 10,000th trainee through the Advanced Disaster Management Simulator, (ADMS).
NIBRA has been using ETC's unique simulation technology since 2002 to deliver comprehensive training programs that allow fire officers, incident managers, law enforcement officers, medical service personnel and other emergency responders to work together and most importantly, train together as an integrated team. In addition to the Netherlands, NIBRA also trains students from Germany, Belgium and Sweden.
Since their initial ADMS procurement, NIBRA has contracted five sets of major custom system enhancements including scenarios and environments, growing their database of exercises to include over 30 different types of road traffic accidents, commercial building fires, urban building fires, airport/aircraft incidents, railroad crashes, hotel fires, high rise fires, bridge incidents, hazardous materials incidents and more. These exercises are completely unscripted and play out in real time as fires, injuries, spills and other elements progress according to dynamic and sophisticated algorithms based on real-world physics. Prior to the introduction of ETC's ADMS technology, such training was only possible via live mock up drills, which though useful to increase awareness, provide very limited training benefit.
Regarding the training of their 10,000th student, Marco van Wijngaarden, Training Director for NIBRA, said, "We are very pleased to have reached this landmark and look forward to working with ETC in further evolving our ADMS system to meet the increasing training requirements of our nation's first responders. To keep up with these needs, we just signed a contract with ETC for the provision of five new scenarios, as well as a portable laptop version of our team trainer, which will allow us to not only provide training at our facility, but to also more easily take ADMS on the road to train at individual brigades."
For over a decade, ADMS has been used at US Airports and major firefighting and emergency response training facilities worldwide, and is an industry-proven and mature solution for optimal emergency preparedness. For more information, please visit www.ADMSTraining.com.
