Southampton, PA--February 6, 2004-Entertainment Technology Corporation (EnTCo), a wholly owned subsidiary of Environmental Tectonics Corporation (AMEX:ETC), today announced an exciting development in its entertainment line of products. The Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts brings to its visitors the ultimate interactive experience with EnTCo's newest simulator ride attraction, Wild Earth: African Plains. This attraction is based on the award winning game title "Wild Earth", by game developer Super X Studios. EnTCo takes visitors of all ages for a "Ride on the Wild Side" with this breathtaking safari through Africa's Serengeti. As part of the Whitaker Center's design to create an educational playground for imagination, reasoning and discovery, Wild Earth fits perfectly into their concept of providing unique experiences in education and entertainment. Wild Earth will be installed in the Whitaker's Harsco Science Center, February 14th 2004, in Harrisburg, PA.
David Mitchell, EnTCo's Director of Sales and Marketing, commented "We are very excited the Whitaker Center shares our vision of delivering inspiring, educational content in a highly immersed and interactive medium. Wild Earth will undoubtedly deliver on that vision for the Whitaker Center."
The Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts is Harrisburg's newest destination, the first of its kind complex in the country to use science as an entry to the arts... and to house science and the performing arts and large-format cinema arts under one roof. It has components, which include Select Medical IMAX ® Theater, Harsco Science Center, Sunoco Performance Theater, plus Stage Two, Explorer's Club and Discovery Central classrooms, multi-purpose rooms, the AMP Grand Lobby and the Kunkel Gallery.
In EnTCo's simulator, two riders (a driver and a photographer) sit securely in the truck- themed capsule to experience this fully interactive photo safari. The simulator features 3 axes of motion (pitch, roll and heave) that provide a one-of-a-kind, physical, thrilling and educational experience at the driver's control. In Wild Earth, the riders are in total control, navigating the vehicle through the stunning landscapes of Africa on a quest for that "perfect picture". Their own photographs will then become part of an educational article generated dynamically from the results of the player's experience. This takeaway article is a perfect memento to mark the riders' day at the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts.
EnTCo has designed and engineered a number of cutting-edge simulation attractions for a major entertainment client. EnTCo has mastered both the technology necessary to deliver a unique guest experience and the science required to make it comfortable and enjoyable to a very broad audience demographic. The uniqueness of EnTCo's ride development capability resides in its in-house, creative, software development, and multi-disciplined engineering staff, complemented by its complete turnkey capabilities-from concept to construction. The EnTCo development group works closely with ETC's Motion Science Institute to maximize the ride thrill features, while minimizing the potential for unwanted side effects, such as motion sickness. The use of sustained G-forces and sub-threshold motion, coupled with state-of-the-art CGI visual cues, gives riders a unique experience they can only get on an EnTCo attraction.
