SOUTHAMPTON, Pa., May 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Environmental Tectonics
Corporation (Amex: ETC) is proud to announce that it has achieved CE
accreditation for its BARA-MED(R) acrylic monoplace hyperbaric chamber. This
enables ETC to freely market and sell this hyperbaric chamber within the
European Union and those countries that have adopted their codes and
standards.
"For us, achieving this accreditation is particularly gratifying," said
Michael W. Allen, VP BioMedical Systems Group. "As far as we know, the BARA-
MED(R) is the first monoplace chamber to be accredited in accordance with the
new CE requirements which, for hyperbaric equipment, demand compliance with
the 97/23/EEC Pressure Equipment Directive as well as the 93/42/EEC Medical
Devices Directive. This means that we are now in full compliance with the two
most stringent regulatory requirements in existence, those laid down by the
FDA and the European Union.
"We have always prided ourselves on the way in which ETC has led in
equipment safety and innovation throughout its diverse product range. This is
no less the case with the BARA-MED(R) which has many unique features not
available from other manufacturers. A recent example is the introduction of
SMOOTH-RIDE(TM) pressure-change technology that has been shown to reduce the
difficulties patients have equalizing pressure in their middle ears during
compression by 67%."
ETC also designs, develops, installs and maintains aircrew training
systems, process simulation systems (sterilization and environmental (clinical
hyperbaric systems, environmental testing and simulation systems, public
entertainment systems and related products for domestic and international
customers.
