SOUTHAMPTON, Pa., Nov. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Environmental
Tectonics Corporation (Amex: ETC) today announced that William F. Mitchell,
CEO and President, has been elected to the position of Chair of the ASME
International (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Industry Advisory
Board (IAB).
Founded in 1880 as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME is a
nonprofit educational and technical organization serving a worldwide
membership of 125,000. ASME is responsible for: Conducting one of the world's largest technical publishing operations
Holding some 30 technical conferences and 200 professional
development courses each year
Setting many industrial and manufacturing standards |
The work of the Society is performed by its member-elected Board of
Governors and through its five Councils, 44 Boards and hundreds of Committees
in 13 regions throughout the world. There are a combined 400 sections and
student sections serving ASME's worldwide membership.
The Industry Advisory Board (IAB) was established in 1987 to help ensure
ASME programs are relevant and effective for its members in industry and to
strengthen the Society's ties to industrial members. Over 80 percent of
ASME's members (non-students) are employed by industry.
The IAB provides advice to the Board of Governors and other Society units
on present and proposed ASME activities of interest to industry. New IAB
nominations are submitted to the IAB Nominating Committee for review and
approval to ensure that it is a peer group.
The IAB is comprised of industry executives at or near the CEO level of
large and small companies that employ ASME members and meets twice yearly, in
the spring and fall, focusing on a wide range of topics with mutual interest
to associated industry and ASME.
