SOUTHAMPTON, Pa., April 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Environmental
Tectonics Corporation (Amex: ETC). Following an earlier notification that it
had received a Letter of Intent (February 26, 2002), Environmental Tectonics
Corporation Sterilizer Division, now confirms that it has been awarded the
contract to design, supply, install and commission two 4-pallet 100% Ethylene
Oxide (EtO) Sterilization Systems, with associated process controls, by a
major U.S. based manufacturer. Over the past two months ETC personnel have
worked closely with the purchasers' project personnel to develop detailed
plans for the chambers and associated building requirements. Both sterilizers
will be installed in a new 130,000-square-foot facility now being built. The
total contract value is approximately $800,000.00.
These sterilizers will feature ETC's unique Air Jacket Heating/Cooling
(AJHC) system. AJHC technology not only helps to avoid the costly maintenance
and repairs commonly associated with traditional water jacketed vessels, it
maintains superior temperature distribution throughout the chamber thus giving
better overall performance. A custom-programmed "state of the art" Pro-
Genesis(R) Series 2000 PC/PLC SCADA control system will execute all process
control and data retrieval. This cutting edge control application utilizes
fiber optics technology to safely access all required process and control data
from the chamber area. The use of fiber optics not only optimizes signal
quality, it eliminates the need to install extensive and costly facility
wiring and large, space consuming intrinsic Barrier Boxes.
ETC was selected because of its extensive experience in designing,
manufacturing and installing large industrial 100% EtO Sterilization Systems
as utilized by major medical device manufacturers worldwide. ETC provides
consultancy services to assist clients with facility design, specialized
construction and ancillary equipment requirements. This service enables
companies wishing to develop or expand an EtO sterilization capability to
achieve the best possible return on their investment by optimizing equipment
selection and product throughput while maximizing facility safety. The ETC
consultancy team worked together with the client's project personnel to design
a customized sterilization system that will fulfill the manufacturing needs
within the space available.
Michael W. Allen, V. P. of ETC's Biomedical Systems and Sterilizer Group,
commented "Our ability and willingness to work with clients in order to
develop the best possible solution to their problems is only one of the things
that sets ETC apart from our competitors. This team approach enables our
clients to tap into the expertise it has taken us many years to develop and
get the equipment they need to do the job."
ETC also designs, develops, installs and maintains aircrew training
systems, public entertainment systems, process simulation systems,
(sterilization and environmental), clinical hyperbaric systems, environmental
testing and simulation systems, and related products for domestic and
international customers.
