SOUTHAMPTON, Pa., April 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Environmental
Tectonics Corporation (Amex: ETC) has been selected by NIBRA to provide a
virtual reality (VR) based multi-user training system. As the National Fire
Institute of Netherlands, NIBRA is responsible for setting standards for the
whole country and has chosen ETC's unique VR simulator technology to develop
and deliver comprehensive training programs that will allow individual fire
officers, incident managers and other emergency response personnel to work
together and most importantly, train together as an "integrated team". Prior
to the introduction of ETC's Advanced Disaster Management Simulator technology
(ADMS) such training was only possible via live mock up drills, which
though useful to increase awareness, provide very limited training.
Dealing with disasters -- fire related, bio-chemical incidents or
terrorist acts of destruction, require the fire services and emergency teams
to put themselves in harms way. Mitigating the losses, saving lives and
property demands the highest level of preparedness possible -- training has
proven to be one of the leading contributors to increasing the preparedness
level and ADMS provides the most affective and affordable means to achieve
this essential goal. The interactive capability of ADMS Intelligent VR
technology allows the exercise to be driven by the decision-making process,
providing for a very progressive way to develop skills and enhance the
competency level.
ETC's simulation systems are designed and utilized to provide both safety
and security training and its key customers include the likes of Chicago
O'Hare and Minneapolis Airports, South Carolina State and Osceola County
Emergency Management Agencies, Florida State Fire College. Now with this
unprecedented multi year, three phase contract the ADMS is being
integrated into a National Training program from the highest level of
Emergency Response and Fire Services. Through this program VR training will
eventually become available to thousands of fire fighters all across
Netherlands.
William F Mitchell, the CEO and President of ETC stated, "ADMS is a
culmination of over a decade of innovation and creative software development.
It fuses unique technologies together and having one of Europe's leading
disaster institutions -- NIBRA, recognize this fact helps further establish
ETC as the leading suppliers of VR technology to the emergency response
industry."
ETC also designs, develops, installs, and maintains aircrew training
systems, public entertainment systems, process simulation systems
(sterilization and environmental), clinical hyperbaric systems, environmental
testing and simulation systems, and related products for domestic and
international customers.
