Environmental Tectonics Corporation Announces a Disaster Management Simulator Contract With Florida State Fire College
March 6, 2002
SOUTHAMPTON, Pa., March 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Environmental Tectonics Corporation (Amex: ETC) has been awarded a contract to supply a disaster management simulator to Florida State Fire College.

Florida State Fire College (FSFC) is leading the fight against terrorism by developing a comprehensive disaster management program to better prepare fire fighters for catastrophic events. Environmental Tectonics Corporation (ETC) was selected to provide the Advanced Disaster Management Simulator (ADMS™) to the FSFC located in Ocala, Florida for Wild-land Urban Interface and Terrorism/WMD (Weapons of mass destruction) training. The ADMS™ system will allow FSFC to offer the latest technology at the state level in training for disaster management, command control and communication tactics and techniques.

ETC's ADMS™ is a virtual reality based simulator that can create realistic, real-time disasters. Fire fighters and first responders can utilize this simulator to practice command, control and communications at the scene of a simulated disaster. The interactive capability allows the exercise to be driven by the decision-making process, providing for a very effective way to develop skills and enhance the competency level.

The FSFC also plans to take the ADMS™ simulator to remote sites around the State to provide on-site training to the Florida fire fighters at their fire stations. To meet this important objective ETC will be providing a portable version of the simulator - ADMS™ -1.

A result of over a decade of research and development the ADMS™ provides the capability to not only train to an emergency plan, but is a powerful tool in the development, validation and testing of that emergency plan. Its interconnectivity allows for team training of fire fighters as well as multi-agency operations. Both these features are unique requirements of the emergency response industry and until the introduction of ADMS™ were only possible through "live drills." Allowing the fire personnel to work together as a team, safely and cost-effectively puts ADMS™ at the forefront of disaster response training. FSFC is planning to institute the team training utilizing the ADMS™ in the second phase of this program.

ETC is positioned to offer unique and readily available disaster solutions to public safety & emergency response organizations, airport and airline personnel, & government agencies to simulate major incidents (terrorist activities, HAZMAT, airfield incursions, fire, etc.) or natural disasters.

ETC also designs, develops, installs and maintains aircrew training systems, public entertainment systems, process simulation systems (sterilization and environmental), clinical hyperbaric systems, environmental testing and simulation systems, and related products for domestic and international customers.
